通过对宁夏、四川西昌和江苏等地的茧质比较，认为日照强度高、气候干燥但水资源能得以保证是蚕茧品质优良的主要原因，并由此提出，可考虑从宁夏开始，自北向南建设一条经过陕西、陇南、川西到滇东的新蚕丝产业带，成为我国的优质蚕茧生产基地。
